BUT
Equivale a “pero” en español.
Ejemplos:
I like coffee, but I don’t drink it at night.
Me gusta el café, pero no lo tomo por la noche.
She’s talented but very shy.
Es talentosa, pero muy tímida.
Uso secundario: “Excepto” / “Salvo”
En este sentido, but funciona como una preposición o parte de una estructura negativa.
Equivale a “excepto”, “salvo”, o “menos”.
Ejemplos:
Everyone but John was invited.
Todos fueron invitados excepto John.
There’s nothing but trouble in that place.
No hay nada salvo problemas en ese lugar.
She eats everything but meat.
Come de todo menos carne.
YET
Similar a “but”, pero con un matiz de sorpresa o contradicción inesperada.
Equivale a “sin embargo”, “aun así”.
Ejemplos:
He’s very young, yet incredibly wise. → Es muy joven, sin embargo increíblemente sabio.
It was raining, yet we went out. → Estaba lloviendo, pero aun así salimos.
She’s tired, yet she keeps working. → Está cansada, pero sigue trabajando.
Uso como adverbio (no conector):
También puede usarse como adverbio de tiempo, con el sentido de “todavía” o “aún”, pero eso es otro uso gramatical (no como conector).
STILL
Equivale a “aun así”, “sin embargo” y "todavía"
Ejemplos:
He apologized. Still, she didn’t forgive him.
Se disculpó. Aun así, ella no lo perdonó.
It’s expensive. Still, I think it’s worth it.
Es caro. Sin embargo, creo que vale la pena.
She was warned. Still, she went ahead.
Fue advertida. Aun así, siguió adelante.
Aunque “still” puede parecer una conjunción, en realidad es un adverbio que actúa como conector.
Se coloca al inicio de la segunda oración, seguido de coma.

She’s very smart, but she doesn’t study much.

STILL
He’s still at work.
Todavía está en el trabajo.
I’ve told him three times, and he still doesn’t understand.
Se lo he dicho tres veces, y todavía no lo entiende.
It was cold and windy. Still, we went to the beach.
Hacía frío y viento. Sin embargo, fuimos a la playa.
She’s still thinking about your offer.
Ella todavía está pensando en tu oferta.
We’ve been waiting for an hour, and they’re still not here.
Hemos estado esperando una hora, y todavía no han llegado.

I haven’t finished my homework yet.
Todavía no he terminado la tarea.
Have you eaten yet?
¿Ya has comido?
He’s only 16, yet he runs his own business.
Solo tiene 16 años, sin embargo dirige su propio negocio.
They haven’t responded to my email yet.
Todavía no han respondido a mi correo.
She’s new to the team, yet she’s already making a big impact.
